London

TimeLapse London from mikehellers on Vimeo.

The above Video is a collection of timelapse videos done over the last few months in London.
I have used a number of different cameras to take the pictures: Canon G9 with CHDK, Canon 500D and Canon 7D with external intervalometer. After converting the individual images into timelapse Videos using Quicktime 7 Pro, some further work has been done in Final Cut Pro. The scenes at Trafalgar Square have been treated using the Long Time Exposure Plugin from CHV to create a blending effect. Some of the other clips include some panning done in Final Cut, while other have just been scaled down to HD resolution.
The soundtrack is a composition of Denny Schneidemesser called ‘Savanna Speedrun’ released under a creative commons licence.

Yet another nice afternoon in one of the many parks in London.

Well, everybody who lives in London must have noticed it: Summer has arrived!
Not a surprise then that i have spent most of the weekend out in the town, and of course had my camera with me most of the time.
What is the result? More media to fill those tubes.

Let’s start with some Gigapan Images:

Since my Canon camera also takes video, well, guess what, here is some of that…

And last but not least, a small collection of plain old pictures…

A collection of pictures taken this saturday in London.

The following pictures have been taken with a Canon EOS 500D during a walk around London on a sunny (well, cloudy) afternoon.
Enjoy!

Form 5090

As most of you know, I am spending a bit of time these days taking pictures in and around London. And I can now add myself to the list of people who ave been stopped by the police under Section 44 of the Terrorism Act. And a such I have now my first (probably not the last) form 5090 documenting the process. It is and will always be weird to be stopped and checked by teh Police in a city where every corner is captured by CCTV cameras. What difference does it make if somebody takes some additional pictures. But anyway, it was an interesting experience. The whole process was smooth, friendly and straightforward, probably partially to the fact that it was no surprise to me since the same happened to some of my friends (also passionate photographers) and many other people over the lat few months.

Here is another GigaPan Panorama. This time it is a view of Canary Wharf taken from the Milwall Docks yesterday. Unfortunately the weather conditions were not perfect to take a panorama due to the fact that the clouds were moving rather fast, and as such it creates a rather unusual pattern.
Anyway, enjoy.

As always, you can find the complete list of my panoramas here.

As mentioned in the previous post, I spent yesterday afternoon walking along the Southbank along the river Thames, taking a number of panoramas using the GigaPan robotic camera mount.
I have finished the stitching process and they are all up on the Gigapan.org website now.
Enjoy zooming around the pictures. For a better experience, go directly to the gigapan site and don’t forget to add snapshots for anything interesting you find.

It was yet another sunny winter day here in London yesterday. I decided to take a tripod, the Gigapan and the Canon G9 out for a walk along the Southbank along the river Thames. While my computer is still busy stitching some of the panoramas together, I have finished uploading the first one to gigapan.org.
